Remarks & Notes

A CP coal load climbs the short grade towards the tunnel thru Black Canyon.. Canadian Pacific line thru the Thompson and Fraser Canyons is a series of up and down moderate grade requiring big coal loads like this being powered up 2x1x1. This treacherous section of canyon was originally even more difficult. The CP track once rounded this rock out cropping on stilts. Part of the original "tunnel by pass" can be seen below the locomotives....
