Remarks & Notes

The Solkan railway bridge has the largest stone arch in the world. It's length is 85 meters. The 15th of March 1945 the bridge was attacked and damaged by the allied aviation. A piece of the viaduct that had fallen in the river during the attack was successfully lifted up by the divers on June 20 1999. This part of the original viaduct can today be seen in theNova Gorica station.
