| A pair of MBTA "all electric" PCCs prepare to depart from the Arborway loop for a trip to downtown Boston via Huntington Avenue. Twenty-five of Boston's 346 PCCs were of this design, in which electric motors and solenoids replaced compressed air for brake activation, door operation, and other functions. These cars were retired in 1978. |
