Remarks & Notes
Sadly, one of the most spectacular railroads worldwide was destroyed by heavy floods in march 2015, the 1 meter gauge line from Chañaral via Llanta up to Potrerillos. When you look on Google Earth nowadays, only few remains of the right of way are visible. In may 2012, the EMD 567 prime movers of Ferronor GR12 # 401 and # 91 filled the valley with a deafening noise, working hard on about 3.0 % gradient with a long train of 23 empty sulphuric acid tank cars on the way from Llanta via Montandon to Potrerillos.
