The 65 metre high Landwasser viaduct, landmark of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) Albula Line and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Albula Bernina since 2008, leads directly into the vertically sloping rock face and the 216 metre long Landwasser tunnel. This impressive viaduct, which bridges the Landwasser creek with 6 arches of 20 metres span width, with a curve radius of 100 m, was built between 1901 and 1902 from local limestones. The Albula line from Thusis to Celerina was inaugurated in 1903 and electrified in 1919 with 11 kV 16,7 Hz AC.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
