Remarks & Notes
All kinds of tribute to the past. SFMTA 1011 was built in 1948 by the St. Louis Car Company as a double-ended PCC, and subsequently rebuilt by the Brookville Compnay. But is painted to honor the original Market Street Railway Company, Muni’s private competitor from 1921 to 1944. Here it is seen passing the San Francisco Giant’s AT&T Ballpark, itself a tribute to the past. In 2015, the SF Giants were the reigning World Champions of baseball. The scene is reminiscent of a poster commissioned by the Market Street Railway, with original MSR car 798 at the same location.
