Amtrak train 77, the Piedmont, departs Raleigh Union Station for Charlotte, North Carolina. Many changes have occurred over the past several months. The building just above the locomotive is the new Raleigh Union Station, and the high-level platforms were built as part of the new station construction. The former station was just out of sight to the right of the photo, and has since been razed, despite reports that I heard that it would be repurposed.
