Remarks & Notes
Worse for Wear

Eastbound mixed freight 16N crawls by AR Tower as it prepares to descend 'The Slide.' The tower, one of three still standing on the mountains between Altoona and Johnstown, is in rough shape. The hip roof (a later addition) is in very poor condition (and covers a intact flat roof) and several windows are either broken out or no longer closed up. It's seen better days, but it's appears to not be in danger of collapsing. There's no word on how much longer NS will let AR stand, but with the PRR signals replaced the following Sunday, it is now the last reminder of the Pennsy at this location.
