Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 768 (Goleta to San Diego), heading south through the city of Orange, finds a small hole of sun peeking through the clouds on November 24, 2018. This location is CP Maple, where Metrolink's Orange Subdivision diverges with the Olive Subdivision. Amtrak F59PHI 458 is one of a small number of F59PHIs still operating on the Surfliners, as many have been shipped to new owner Metra in Chicago. The Surfliners are beginning to see more use of their new engines, Siemens "Charger" SC-44 diesels, while other Surfliners are powered by Amtrak P42DC locomotives, which are filling in while the F59s leave the SC-44s arrive.
