Water has been a big problem in South Dakota this summer. The RCP&E has had some problems fighting Mother Nature and her water because of it. Here along the PRC Sub east of Midland the Bad River looks like it is slowly washing away towards the tracks, which is kind of crazy cause this area isn't known for its moisture! From Fort Pierre to Phillip (76 miles) the railroad and the river run hand and hand thru this desolate land, and sometimes too cozy. The MHURC slowly pokes along making the trek from Pierre to Phillip for the next crew change. In about 6 miles the crew will setout the head 25 cars at Midland for loading at the elevator.
