The Oxnard Local Caboose Returns! Union Pacific GP60's No. 1051 and 1150 are seen leading a special run of the LOF63 down the Santa Paula branch line, owned and operated by the Fillmore & Western Railway, just east of Limco with a string of 10 empty tank cars. What turned out to be a complete surprise to those of us trackside to catch this move was the return of the local's iconic caboose, UP 25831, that was pulled out of storage to be used as a buffer car between the locomotives and tank cars for this move. The station name of the nearby location on the railroad harks back to when fresh lemons were loaded onto Southern Pacific trains to be transported east. Today, the original spur track on the branch line still remains but is the only visual aspect of this history besides a station sign that carries the name "LIMCO."
