It’s Christmas day and the scrappers working in Wisconsin Central’s Shops Yard locomotive facility at North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, are home with their families enjoying the holiday. In the foreground, torched hoods sit on the ground, and the prime movers, generators and other engineroom components already gone from the locomotives. The job isn’t done yet, but the fate of these three former Soo Line GP30s is sealed as WC Nos. 708, 717 and 718 are not much more than scrap metal on December 25, 1994.
