After departing Chama, New Mexico, on the morning of February 29, 2020, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad’s Rotary OY begins to throw some snow passing milepost 329 approaching “the narrows.” OY is pushed by K-36 Mikado locomotives Nos. 487 and 484, along with support cars and Rio Grande caboose No. 0306. The special run of the plow train featuring OY on the four percent grade up 10,015-foot Cumbres Pass.
