Following a fairly minor derailment on the morning of March 17 the BNSF Railway contracted with Hulcher Services to rerail three diesels that hit the ties in Fullerton. The trailing engine, BNSF 5323 and BNSF 8236 have already been placed back on the rails, as has the rear of lead engine 5807. The front truck of 5807 has just been rerailed, and a worker for Hulcher is seen removing the screw-pin to remove one of the two massive shackles (sometimes also called D-rings) used to lift the 420,000-lb locomotive. Everything is big, heavy and dangerous, and the crew worked flawlessly to get all 36 wheels back where they belong, stopping only long enough to allow other rail traffic to pass by.
