After a daylight run from Hinton, two CSX motors, led by SD70MAC No. 4758 pause underneath Blackhawk Mining's Tom's Fork loadout on the C&O Cabin Creek line near Leewood, W.Va. In a few short moments, the mainline crew will shove the first cut of empties underneath the loadout to spot up the first set of empties and verify the train count with the loadout operator. Tomorrow after daybreak, a local crew will begin the loading process in preparation for sending another 10,000+ tons to Newport News, Va., for export.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
