Into The Storm. With another day of dropping riprap at milepost 207 on the Surfline complete, BNSF 5982 slowly backs out of the work area for the San Clemente pier where a crew change is scheduled to take place. On the horizon, a rather nasty looking storm has made its way southwest from the Inland Empire to the beaches of San Clemente as a downpour is seen off in the distance. Bolts of lightening and the sound of rolling thunder was seen and heard a couple minutes after those of us present on the beach packed up our gear and started heading for our vehicles. Operating as the W SBDSBD1 24B, today's train was made up of 38 specially built side-dump cars filled with boulders, rocks and dirt from a quarry in Pedernal, New Mexico.
