Just south of Union Station is Amtrak’s 16th Street Engine Facility, where the carrier’s locomotives and cars get serviced and receive light repairs. With the Willis Tower looming in the background, we see Amtrak Non-Powered Control Unit (NPCU) 90200 – the former F40PH 200 (built in March 1976 and was converted into an unpowered cab car/baggage car [NPCU] twenty-two years later, in March 1998), which – with Amtrak P42DC 63 (built in February 1997) adjacent to it.
