"Testing at the Seawall"
On the evening of October 25th, 2021, the first 5-car Kawasaki built MTA New York City Transit R211A subway cars (4060-4064) ease to a stop while preparing to couple up to the second 5-car train (4065-4069) along the seawall of the Rockaway Test Track at Broad Channel. After joining both sets, the train would head back to Pitkin Yard, completing a day's worth of testing.
With the introduction of this new model of subway railcar, several tests must be performed before the rest of the huge order is built. One of these tests involves running the new train back and forth on the 2-mile long Rockaway Test Track at the Broad Channel flats testing braking, propulsion and various other mechanical features.
