In a picture like decades ago class 24 # 2409 of the East African Railways (EAR) with a mixed train from Makadara entered Nairobi station. The class EB3 for the Kenya Uganda Railways (KUR), later EAR class 24, was the classic East African steamlocomotive. 62 locomotives were built from 1923 and lasted till the end of steam in Kenya and later still in Tanzania. # 2409 was built by Vulcan and Nasmyth Wilson in 1923 and is operational again since 2006 for the Nairobi Railway Museum, but pulled the very first commercial train on this day, for a group of Geoff's Trains/Tanago! Since this day, as far as is now, the locomotive was never under pressure again.
