A German tram bound for Mexico Street in a Hungarian city...
A Budapesti Közlekedési Vállalat (BKV, Budapest Transit Company) model TW 6000 tram (DÜWAG, 1975-1978) is seen curving onto Mexikói út as it nears its terminating station on Line 69.
One interesting detail about these trams is that they are fully high-floor (the doors do not extend down stairwells), so to enable use at the low platforms that make up the BKV network they have steps that can be opened under the doors. These are similar to the Tokyu Car Corporation LRVs used domestically by the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority in Buffalo, NY, however the DÜWAG cars have the stairs inside the body whereas the stairs on the Tokyu cars extend out. |
