The Final Detour. Instead of taking its usual routing over the Norfolk Southern Corp former Pennsylvania Railroad through Pennsylvania because of a derailment in Ohio, NS Train 22H (47th Street Yard, Chicago, IL-Harrisburg, PA) was symboled as CSX X900-07 and detoured over CSX routing including the former New York Central West Shore Railroad, today CSX's River Sub. The unusual sight of NS 3620 (ET44AC) and NS 9493 (D9-44CW) leading a long string of JB Hunt containers is in Iona Island, New York, with the Bear Mountain Bridge in the background on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. The train was rerouted due to a derailment in East Palestine, OH, along with several others in the past week over CSX as well as the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway and NS's Southern Tier. Around the same time, trains were moving through that area of Ohio again as residents were allowed to return to their homes, suggesting that this will be the last of the rerouted trains from this incident.
