Remarks & Notes
The mid-day hotshot out of Chicago has around 62-63 mph in hand as they work west into the setting sun. The crew on the train is 97 miles into their over 300 miles trip from the east side of Iowa to the westside of Iowa. The "Long Pool" crew and will run from Clinton to Missouri Valley on the ex-CNW double track main thru Iowa. Norway is located at MP 97 on the UP Clinton Sub. The town has a few nice displays to tell the story of how baseball came to this little town shortly after the Civil War. The town ended up winning 12 state titles and sending at least 16 players to professional baseball. In 1991 the legend of Norway baseball ended when the high school was closed and merged into a bigger high school. "The Final Season" is the story based on Norway's final drive to a state championship in 1991.
