On August 10, a northbound freight train derailed in the 57-kilometer-long Gotthard Base Tunnel, and since then both tubes have been closed. All passenger traffic, as well as freight traffic that can pass through the smaller profile, travels via the Gotthard mountain route, today also called the panorama route. An Intercity push-pull train with cars of type EW IV, Apm and Bpm, shoved by locomotive Re 460 # 026, is crossing the Intschireuss bridge on the gotthard north ramp between Amsteg-Silenen and Gurtnellen, running as IC 10311 from Zürich to Chiasso.
