Heavy traffic on the Gotthard mountain line as in times past, before the opening of the Gotthard base tunnel (GBT) at the end of 2016. Due to the derailment of a northbound freight train in the base tunnel on August 10 and the closure of both tunnel tubes since then, all passenger traffic is diverted over the mountain line, as well as part of the freight traffic (if possible from the narrower clearance gauge). In the Biaschina between Lavorgo and Giornico, train 10869 from Zurich to Lugano with the two ICN RABDe 500 # 003 and # 014 is just leaving the 1547 meters long Travi loop tunnel and crossing the river Ticino, while one step higher the train EC 10316 from Chiasso to Zurich with the two "Giruno" RABe 501 # 027 and # 015 is heading uphill in multiple control.
