| C39-8: The conductor of NS 214 (a now abolished train) looks out over the Raritan River in Bridgewater, NJ as it heads east on the Conrail Lehigh Line Main Track at Port Reading Junction. NS 212 and NS 214 in the years following the Conrail split were trains that could often feature classic veteran power. The C39-8 locomotives purchased by NS had the engineer control stands set up for long hood operation. Behind the leader is NS 1592 (a high hood SD40; formerly NW 1592) which was later rebuilt into RPU6 NS 878 in April 2008 and later sold to LTEX in September 2020. |
