During the early morning hours of October 11th, 2023, the Superintendent of Car Equipment snaps a quick photo as the first Kawasaki built MTA Staten Island Railway R211S, SIR 100, makes the final turn into the railway's Clifton Shops. The 5-car R211S pilot set (SIR 100-104) performed several initial tests on the New York City Transit system and once on the island, will perform similar tests before entering revenue service.
