Sunrise On The Susquehanna. On November 17, 2020, Norfolk Southern Train 21G (Port Newark, NJ-Ashland Avenue Yard - Chicago, IL [BNSF]) was crossing the famous Rockville Bridge, the longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct ever built, with NS 9823 (C44-9W) leading as the sun was emerging behind the clouds. Normally the westbound train would be best photographed in the afternoon, but the sky provides a natural assist to the scene for the morning. The line is a main artery for NS traffic, seeing dozens of trains a day with all kinds of commodities moving in all directions in addition to the daily Amtrak "Pennsylvanian".
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
