Since august 20, 2023, when the Gornergrat Railway ((GGB) celebrated 125 years of operation (1898 to 2023), on the Gornergrat the electric locomotive He 2/2 # 3003, built in 1898 by SLM and BBC, is exhibited as "Golden Spot", Gold-plated with gold leaf. The 132 kW locomotive was officially decomissioned on april, 23, 2023 only, although it has not been used for decades anymore. After august, 20, access to the locomotive was still closed for many weeks, first a wheelchair-accessible path had to be created and various information boards were erected.
