Passing In Poughkeepsie. On the evening of Monday, February 12, 2024, MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 837 arrived at the Poughkeepsie, New York Station with MNCW 211 (New York Central/40th Ann) leading just ahead of Amtrak Train 235 with AMTK 705 (Phase III). The current 1918 station served the passengers of the New York Central Railroad for many decades until its merger with the Pennsylvania Railroad to create Penn Central in 1968, which in turn spun off its passenger service to points west upon the creation of Amtrak in 1971. Today it serves both Metro-North and Amtrak. These two heritage schemes side by side show two of the timeless designs that once graced these rails adapted for the modern era.
