Remarks & Notes
Leap Day Locomotive. MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 1844 passed the Bethel, Connecticut former New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad station on June 9, 2023 with MNCW 229 (P32AC-DM, New Haven Tribute) leading on its 'home rails'. Today the current station is just up the road with a high level platform and ample commuter parking lot and this structure now occupied by Broken Symmetry Gastro Brewery. Railfans have seemingly moved on from this heritage paint scheme that adapted the much beloved FL-9 Herb Matter/McGinnis style for the excitement of the new wraps, but at the time it was considered a minor miracle that the State Of Connecticut elected to have its four dual modes painted this way, and further that they returned from their rebuild in a fresh coat of the same paint. Leap Day (February 29 or 2/29) occurs 1 in every 1,461 days, so celebrate the bonus time in your year.
