The NS H02 crew has just parked their train at East Dover for the evening. NS 3048 was originally CR 3364 under Conrail. When Norfolk Southern was based out of Dover, NJ, power typically was stored on the Pigtail Track in Dover Yard, a secure location, but on occasion, the crew could store their train elsewhere, such as the Dover Extension Track, or at East Dover Yard, such as seen here. While East Dover Yard is primarily used for freight and non-passenger equipment storage, NJ Transit maintains catenary wire on a through track in the yard in the event that electric trains need to pass through the yard for yard moves or alternate moves eastward if Dover Interlocking is tied up. Norfolk Southern abolished operations in this area in March 2019, handing services over to the Chesapeake & Delaware (C&D). The C&D would no longer originate or terminate freight jobs out of Dover Yard after the shift in railroads.
