Some trains are harder to photograph than others. In my attempt to find something good to shoot Saturday. I stumbled across this eastbound in the SLC Intermodal yard about 8:30 a.m. The LA Z train came rolling into the yard and cleared the switch while waiting. UP 6441 lights went on so I figure it was go time, crossing signals went on. So I took off in a hurry to get set up for this shot about two miles down the line. About 40 minutes go by no train. So I decide to go back to the yard. He had his front door open. Apparently they hadn't change crews yet before, and were recrewing. So I sit an watch and wait a half hour. Door gets shut, lights go on, horn blows. So I take off again for my spot. Wait another 40 minutes. I tell myself I give him until 11:00 then I will give up. So at eleven I give up. Head back towards the yard, direction of home. The crossing light up ahead of me. I flip around, get back to my spot. This time I don't have time to park properly. Just park on the side of the highway and run across and get my shot. So it almost took my three hours to get my shot.
