Far be it for me to ever accuse C&O of wasting anything. In a day when "repurpose" seems to be the word, one has to look back at the C&O and conclude they were "king" years ago. Witness the MofW shack to the left. Obviously, it began life as a wooden boxcar many years ago. Upon closer examination, one will note that after those duties were completed, it was "repurposed" as a camp car. As if that weren't enough, it was "repurposed" yet again, this time as a MofW shanty. The scene is at Van, WV on May 19, 1979 and the approaching train is the C&O Pond Fork Mine Run with WM GP40-2 No. 4261 and C&O GP38 No. 3864.
