After inspecting star charts, the four stars upper left are confirmed to be the "dipper" part of the Big Dipper, known as the Plough in the UK and Ireland, a seven star asterism, part of the constellation of Ursa Major, the Great Bear. See the Wiki for all the details on the astronomy.
