Dwarfed by the surrounding mountains, 5343, 5370, 5392, 5333 and 5325 slowly make their way out of Minturn towards Tennessee Pass in July 1981. In the distance the two sets of helpers can be detected by the smudge on the landscape. This one hundred car eastbound coal train (#790) had nine GP swing helpers and three SD helpers ahead of the caboose - giving a total of 17 locomotives with 55,300 hp for 13,500 tons!
