Elsdon Yard, on Chicago's southwest side, had a roundhouse and service facilities for Grand Trunk Western steam power until the end of the steam era. We visited the yard and found a good number of live locomotives at the roundhouse and working the yard. Grand Trunk Western 8327, Class P-5-c, was built in 1927 by LIMA. GTW 8327 simmers quietly in the roundhouse in the company of sister 8371, a p-5-g built in 1929 by Baldwin.
