| NS U53 rolls to a stop beside the ex-L&N passenger depot in Appalachia to wait for clearance through Appalachia enroute to Westmoreland Coal's large prep facility in town. U53 returns to Appalachia with 33 "yellow ball" loads gathered from the Roaring Fork loadout on the ex-Interstate Railroad's Roaring Fork Branch. Note that both ex-Southern and ex-N&W hoppers are in "yellow ball" service. |
