| As if to underscore the compatible motive power philosophies of the two main NS predecessors, two high hood ex-N&W EMDs bracket two ex-Southern high hood EMDs hurrying a west bound manifest out of Salem, Virginia in late May 1984. Judging by the leaf cover on the mountain backdrop, Spring lingers at the highest elevations overlooking the Roanoke Valley. |
