At around 7:30 PM on July 29, 2013, the eastbound Empire Builder struck a bulldozer at a private crossing west of Trenton. The lead unit, AMTK 21, received heavy damage and was set out on the house track in Trenton, while the train eventually continued on with a pair of Norfolk Southern GEVOs and the remaining Amtrak unit. Sadly, the driver of the bulldozer died at the Williston hospital. Two days later, an Amtrak inspection team is evaluating the lead unit to begin the process of getting it roadworthy enough to be hauled back to Chicago. (Taken from a distance on the opposite side of the house track.)
