The Western Maryland of Webster Springs... When one envisions the mainline and branch lines of the Western Maryland, the community of Webster Spring doesn't immediately stand out as a geographically relevant point of interest... Webster Springs or formerly known as Addison served as the far southwestern point for the Western Maryland Railway mainline from Slatywork and Spruce. Several coal mining operations as well as numerous timber companies through the Elk River Valley generated business for the Wild Mary in the peak of operation. The mainline was eventually abandoned in the the mid 1970's, but much of the right of way and bridges remain today.
