What in the world is worth getting up at 4:30 am, in 20 degree weather? How about to ride a train to pretty much the middle of nowhere. A few minutes after sunrise in the Steptoe valley, Nevada Northern Railway #40 rumbles by with a mixed freight, just in time to catch the sun. The 106-year-old Baldwin 4-6-0 locomotive was repaired just a couple of days earlier for this trip.
