UP 7373 leads the detouring QRVWCB-16 across the 930-foot long, 122-year-old Stenner Creek Trestle and out of the morning marine layer as it drops off Cuesta Pass toward San Luis Obispo. Also of special interest on this train is the EMDX 1502, an EMD SD70ACe-T4, trailing second as it continues its rounds of testing.
The detouring of this and many other freights comes following the massive Blue Cut Fire ravaging Cajon Pass and Union Pacific's tracks on the western slope of the pass. Badly burning a bridge and other parts of the roadbed, Union Pacific was forced to detouring trains that normally travel over Cajon onto the coast for a short few days as repairs were made.
