At the start of a snow storm, UP Train LSI55 27 begins its short day of switching the yard. Typically this is a short job on Saturday and doesn't leave town. With the snow and cold temperatures, you can bet this crew enjoyed the early quit. Here they drag out their first cut of cars to kick out.
This trip home was prompted by the death and subsequent funeral of Joseph Paul Falvey, a longtime friend, 'adopted grandpa', and retired railroader. He was once the mechanical supervisor/car foreman for this yard for the Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific, having served 42 years with the railroads, hiring out in Texas on the T&P. 2015 year marked 2 decades of friendship, and he was taken rather suddenly. I still miss that ole dude.
