Remarks & Notes
A pair of Lehigh Valley Alco road switchers work the small yard that has served as the interchange yard between three railroads for years, but now serves only two. Until a few weeks ago, this would have been the Lehigh & New England Railway local, but is now a Conrail local serving the line that will become known as the Cement Secondary. The second railroad that visited this yard was the Erie Lackawanna’s former DL&W Bangor & Portland subdivision. Now, the B&P is also a Conrail property, meaning that the yard is now served by only two railroads. In a few years, shortline Northampton & Bath, the third road to serve this yard, will abandon its tracks outside of Northampton, eliminating the need for this yard. The B&P serves the same cement mills as the L&NE, and will soonbe abandoned between Martins Creek Junction and Bath.
