This is what it’s all about! My boys and I had the opportunity to see N&W 611 under steam as it made round trips from Roanoke to Lynchburg and Walton Virginia. This was the first time they had ever seen a 4-8-4 and was my first time seeing the J fired up since its previous excursion career ended in 1994. My boys gave a friendly wave to the engine crew as they passed the shops in downtown Roanoke. A special thanks to everyone, from our armed forces to the crew and volunteers with the 611, that helped make memories like this possible over Memorial Day weekend!
