Busy evening on Logan Hill After sunset at 9:00 p.m. on July 2, 2016, three Union Pacific coal trains converge on Logan Hill in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. On the far right are rear DPUs pushing on a load that is cresting the hill and is headed south. On the next track over are two more DPUs of an empty headed back to a mine to load. Bright headlights of another load climbing the grade is led by SD70ACe No. 8753. A fourth train can be seen dropping down into Antelope Creek Valley in the middle background, its headlights distorted by hot exhaust. Even though Powder River Basin main lines can still be busy, the western-most track in this view is temporarily out of service due to traffic levels on this date in 2016.
