Winter's Professionals prevail. One year ago snow accumulations on California's Sierra Nevada was pushing record numbers, a welcome relief from a handful of well below average years of drought throughout the state. Ready to answer Mother Nature call, the dedicated members of Union Pacific's 'snow fighters' put in long hours and hard work to turn back the mountain's worst during the winter of 2016-2017. After overcoming a number of obstacles just to get out of Truckee the spreaders have finally made Yuba Pass, CA near the west end of their days run in the early evening. Having emerged from tunnel 35 the 'lead' spreader will now 'wide-wing' down to Switch 9, once there they will return the railroad to Omaha and make the return to Truckee.
