A Rough Morning on Tehachapi. Following an extensive delay on the mountain due to broken rail between Woodford and Walong, with a train in every siding between Marcel and Bena (with some parked on the main between Sandcut and Bakersfield), the flood gates have slowly begun to open for those trains lucky enough to receive patch crews like the BNSF 4511. Having jumped in a van at Barstow earlier in the morning, the crew was dropped off at Rowan roughly an hour ago and have managed to get their train back on the move as its seen here snaking over two crossings of the Tehachapi Creek south of Woodford and toward Tunnel 9. In the meantime, other trains like the southbound Union Pacific manifest stuck at Woodford in the upper left of this image wait for a fresh crew to arrive before it can get back on the move. Others like the 4511 that have received new crews also begun to get underway, like the manifest waiting patiently for the 4511 on the top of the loop. Battling the clouds all morning, you can imagine how excited this photographer was when a patch of sunlight managed to break through the dense covering to light up the head-end!
