Photographing these "Sparkly Trains" as they are often referred to can be a challenge. They are often photographed in the dark and spark output can vary greatly drastically changing the lighting conditions created by the sparks. Good guides have the connections needed to order these trains for their clients. These JS 2-8-2 steam locomotives do spark under normal working conditions but rarely to the level of the special runs. The crews run them hard to create massive showers of burning coal embers that are shot high into the air that drift back over the the train still glowing.
