Remarks & Notes |
Some Things Change, Others Stay The Same. As a brief snowfall finds itself over the Nevada Northern Railway's Ely yard...a timeless scene unfolds. With a long day of operations ahead of it, No. 40 pauses at the coal loading dock to have its tender filled to the top with black gold. While the old coaling tower in the background is no longer the means that steam locomotives receive coal for their day's work...the coal itself and the ash that falls on you as you stand next to one of these magnificent machines is something that has remained the same for the 100 years that engines like No. 40 have operated. |
